The 7 days of green juice challenge & MAKING JUICE WITH A BLENDER

We all want to make a difference in this world. We all want to feel like we are important, needed & helping others in our efforts.

That’s where this 7 Days of Green Juice Challenge came from. My desire to truly help others in a way that is actually impactful & practical.

#7daysofgreenjuice #SWBchallenge

I believe that most people can fathom doing something for one week…7 days is a realistic commitment! I also believe that the challenge to drink ONLY ONE glass of green juice each day feels very achievable for the average person. I mean what’s 8 ounces in the grand scheme of everything we eat & drink in one day?!

So I’ve decided to challenge YOU to drink 8 ounces of green juice, everyday for 7 days. The challenge starts next Monday, March 19 & finishes Monday, March 26.

There are no other guidelines, no special diet to follow, no foods you have to eliminate… just drink 8 ounces of green juice each day & I promise you will see results! It is best to drink your juice first thing in the morning (we will discuss this more later) but honestly I just want you to get that goodness in your system. I’m confident that in just seven days you will be amazed at the benefits you see in healing, energy, digestion, mood, sleep etc.

Everyday this week I’ll be sharing tips, tricks, recipes & how-to advice to help you get prepared for the challenge!! If you’re not already, follow me in Instagram @stillwatersblog and/or on Facebook @stillwatersblog so that you don’t miss a thing!

When I presented the challenge yesterday on social media, I was nervous that nobody would want to join. However I was blown away by the huge response of many who were eager to take up the challenge! So far the majority of challengers are first-time juicers…wahoo!! I am pumped! I think y’all are awesome!!

JUICING WITH A BLENDER:

Many of you do not have a juicer & that’s OKAY!! You can still do the challenge!

Today I’m going to teach you how to make juice in your blender—

First, it’s important to understand the difference between juice & smoothies/blended drinks.

🌱🌱A juicer spins/squeezes your juice out of the produce by separating the pulp from the fiber. Juice is smooth. It is easy to drink & gives your digestive system a break while flooding your body with more nutrients than you could eat! I couldn’t eat & digest an entire bunch of celery but I can easily drink it. Juice contains some of the natural soluble fiber though the insoluble fiber is removed.

🌱🌱A blender pulverizes the ingredients so that the pulp stays in the smoothie, making it thicker. Consuming a blended drink requires your body to process a digestive load as all the insoluble fiber stays in your drink.

🌱🌱Both are great!! However this is a JUICE challenge meaning we want to be drinking JUICE.

I am ALL ABOUT FIBER & I consume 4x the amount of the average American. However, the wonderful thing about drinking juice is that it requires NO digestion & is like giving yourself an IV filled with critical vitamins, minerals, & antioxidants. You get all the benefit without making your body do any work!

Thus, your body is freed up to do some “deep-cleaning” that it usually doesn’t have the energy for. It’s a win win for healing, promoting health, feeling energized & especially for cleansing your digestive tract.

Follow these steps for making juice in your blender:

Equipment needed: a blender & something to strain with. The best choices are a nut milk bag, a paint strainer bag of a cheesecloth. You can also use a fine mesh strainer but it’s not nearly as effective.

  1. Add your washed & chopped produce to the blender. I recommend working in batches starting with the most watery items (cucumbers, citrus, celery.) Blending those first with a little cup water will make the rest of the process quicker!
  2. Next add in your denser foods such as leafy greens. Depending on your blender you may need to stop & stir every few seconds. Also if the mixture is too thick it probably won’t blend. Add water a little bit at a time until the find an amount that makes everything flow without drowning your mixture.

  3. Once everything is blended smooth it’s time to strain. Place your strainer bag in a large bowl & slowly pour mixture into the bag.

  4. Work the bag by squeezing & moving the pulp around. You’ll see your juice pouring out the sides!

  5. Drink immediately; ENJOY!

Now, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch one or both of these videos to get a visual of what you’ll be doing. It’s quite simple even though this info may seem like a lot. Please watch the video THEN proceed with your questions 🙂

Here is a link to a nut milk bag ($2.99 at Bed Bath Beyond) or you can get paint strainer bags which for 2.50 from Home Depot & can be reused like the milk bag.
